Austria to Germany

Hello folks
Once again we were up early for our champagne breakfast. The special of the day was french toast and peanut butter. Weird combination you say… Well you were right. Onto Belgian Waffles or Chef Krum's excellent eggs or omelettes.

At 8:15 we were scheduled for a full day Austrian Lake District Tour.
Off we went.
Austria has no shortage of stunning landscapes. The Salzkammergut region combines the rolling hills and Alpine Mountains with over 75 lakes and numerous quaint old villages.

We stopped for lunch and found a neat restaurant that had beer wine and surprisingly, food.
They also had a different looking lantern

The view of the mountains and lake district was spectacular. Often the mist obscured the view but when it cleared it was perfect for pictures.

More street scenes as we were in 4 different villages during the tour.

We carried on (those of us still standing) to the Basilika Mondesee. This is the church used in the Sound of Music that Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer walked down the aisle to be married for the film.

The next pictures are the confluence of the 3 rivers in Passau. I imagine you all know these 3 famous rivers. For those unsure folk (like Joe, Bonnie, Dan and Jane) they are the Inn, Ilz and the Danube.

If there is one thing I must say, it is this.  Austria is the most beautiful country we have ever seen.
Everything here is clean and neat, with beautiful flowers in the window boxes beautiful houses and gorgeous flowers growing everywhere.  Even the old buildings have been sand blasted and most of them are a pristine white or pale yellow.

Finally back to the ship just in time for happy hour.

Now I suspect everyone is waiting with baited breath for the "word of the day"

Well, the word is "authority" and we had a couple of reasons for choosing this word.

Sometime during the day the Polizei invaded our ship to check passports for the ship staff and the passengers. Of the 89 passengers on board, most were on shore tours at the time. That's "authority".

But the main reason for the word of the day is explained in the picture below.
Women rule and are the final "authority"

Good night and as we say in Texas ….. See Y'all in the morning.

Tomorrow we are off to Regensburg, Germany
